Grove City Council to hold Special Meeting Tonight on Proposed Charter Amendment That Would Limit Large Development Projects

  • Grove City Council will meet this evening to consider a measure that would put a Community Consent Amendment (CAA) on the November General Election ballot.
  • Council previously postponed the legislative measure and a resolution that asked council to oppose to CAA to tonight, the day before the deadline to put it on the ballot.
  • As proposed, if passed in November, any Grove City development that occupies 50 or more acres, uses 20 megawatts of power, or consumes 500,000 gallons of water a day would be subjected to a referendum. It would also require the developer to pay for related ballot costs.
  • There is a counterproposal that asks council to replace the original amendment with a “compromise” version that replaces the 50 acres with 750,000 square feet of floor area and removes requirements to existing companies.
  • Staff will be in attendance and will provide updates.
  • Columbus REALTORS® opposes this effort, has submitted comments to council, and has been in several stakeholder meetings with the Grove City Administration, council, and community stakeholders.

NAR Submits Comments Supporting FHA’s Reinstatement Advance Payment Demonstration

  • NAR recently submitted comments to the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) supporting the agency's draft policy establishing the Reinstatement Advance Payment (RAP) demonstration.
  • As NAR previously reported, RAP would give servicers a voluntary alternative to securing partial claims through a separately recorded subordinate mortgage. The past-due amount would instead be carried as a non-interest-bearing balance under the existing FHA-insured mortgage.
  • FHA is accepting feedback through September 18, 2026. NAR will continue working with the agency as it finalizes the guidance.
