EFFECTIVE April 3, 2026 State Law Will Require Anti-Discrimination Disclosure to Sellers Before Listing

    • The Ohio Homebuyers Protection Act (HB 315) will soon require a real estate broker or salesperson to provide sellers with a disclosure of laws that relate to anti-discrimination in the home-buying process and the penalties.
    • Without a signed and dated Anti-Discrimination Disclosure to Sellers of Residential Real Estate(attached) real estate brokers or salespersons are prohibited from marketing, advertising, showing, or otherwise offering a seller’s residential real estate for sale, exchange, or purchase.
    • The Ohio Homebuyers Protection Act is set to take effect, April 3, 2026.

NAR Applauds Senate Passage of the ROAD to Housing Act

  • Today, Shannon McGahn, executive vice president and chief advocacy officer of the National Association of REALTORS®, issued comments statement after the Senate passed the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act, stating: 
    • “REALTORS® applaud the Senate’s passage of the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act and the bipartisan focus on addressing our nation’s housing supply crisis. It has been nearly two decades since Congress last enacted a sweeping, bipartisan housing law. We urge the House of Representatives to swiftly pass this legislation and send it to the President’s desk so American families have greater opportunity to achieve homeownership.”
  • Provisions of the legislation include limiting large corporate ownership of single-family homes.
  • Staff have previously reported on the ROAD ACT in Three for Thursday and continue to monitor this issue and will update membership.
