ARTICLE: Dublin Rezoning Effort Again Faces Resident Pushback at City Council Meeting

  • Dublin residents filled the City Council meeting on June 8 to voice their concerns on the city's plan to rezone land on its far west side for industrial development.
  • In the new district, the city would allow advanced manufacturing, research and development, offices, warehouses, construction and contract facilities, parks and more to be built.
  • The ID-6 rezoning is part of the city's larger West Innovation District plan, which would rezone around 370 acres on the city's west side to allow industrial uses. City Council paused the West Innovation District rezoning in August after residents pushed back against it.
  • Staff is closely monitoring this issue and will be present on July 1st when council is slated to vote.

NAR Secures Legal Advocacy Victory as Supreme Court Grants Petition Challenging Energy-Efficiency Rules Affecting Property Owners

  • The National Association of REALTORS® (NAR), alongside the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), has secured an important win in its support of a legal challenge to the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) rules setting energy-efficiency standards for gas appliances.
  • NAR and NAHB filed an amicus brief supporting a petition to the U.S. Supreme Court to address the legality of the DOE rules. The rules require efficiency levels that can only be met using newer condensing technology, which would effectively phase out widely used noncondensing gas furnaces and commercial water heaters.
  • Staff will provide updates as they develop.
