Columbus City Council to hold hearing on city’s first city-wide land use policy
- On Monday, 1/12, Columbus City Council will hold its first reading of the Columbus Growth Strategy — the first-ever citywide land use policy and map.
- The next step of Zone-In after the Columbus Growth Strategy will focus on an estimated 40% of the city including industrial and warehouse areas and business and institutional campuses like hospitals, universities and office parks.
- Staff will be in attendance and will provide updates to membership.

NAR Calls for Federal Incentives to Spur Investor Sales
- In response to Wednesday’s White House proposal to ban further institutional investment in single-family homes, the National Association of REALTORS® calls for a collaborative, data-driven approach to bring more single-family homes to the market.
- During NAR NXT, The REALTOR® Experience, McGahn stated, “REALTORS® adopted policy aimed at incentivizing large institutional owners of single-family rentals to transition homes back to owner-occupants while also creating new housing supply.”
- In December 2023, Columbus REALTORS® took the local policy position that “institutional investors are not considered to be a protected class.”
- Staff will continue to monitor and update membership.
- The Federal Housing Administration (FHA) released its fiscal year 2025 annual report to Congress on the Mutual Mortgage Insurance (MMI) Fund, reporting a solid financial performance while serving as a critical financing source for homebuyers.
- FHA insured mortgages for more than 876,000 homebuyers in FY 2025, with first-time homebuyers representing 83% of FHA forward purchase endorsements.
- NAR commends FHA and the Department of Housing and Urban Development for maintaining a strong financial footing in FY 2025 while continuing to provide critical access to homeownership.
