Columbus REALTORS® continue to engage Columbus City Council on Rental Registry, Property Inspection Proposal

  • This past week, Columbus REALTORS® members and staff participated in a stakeholder engagement with councilmembers and city staff on the proposed rental registry and property inspection legislation.
  • There will be a public committee hearing on Thursday, February 19th at 4pm at City Hall (90 W. Broad St., Columbus, Ohio 43215). NOTE: There will NOT be a vote on this proposal that night.
  • This is a public hearing, all are welcome; however, if you would like more information on the proposal and/or would like to provide testimony, please reach out to staff for assistance: 

 

Union County: Marysville moves forward on residential development, Jerome Township at odds on data centers

  • This past Tuesday, the Marysville Planning Commission approved a preliminary plan for Trotter’s Gate, a massive new 190-acre neighborhood in the Marysville North area.
  • This plan involves the residential single-family portions of the mixed-use development that will span the open fields between SR 31 and SR 4. 
  • Also, on Tuesday in Jerome Township, residents raised concerns about data center projects continuing to move forward despite the nine-month moratorium on new data center projects placed in September 2025.
  • Township officials are working on new zoning changes and the Zoning Commission is scheduled to discuss at a hearing on February 9th. 
  • Staff are monitoring both items and will continue to update membership.

 

National – 

FY 2026 Spending Package Funds Critical Housing Programs

  • This past week, the U.S. House approved and President Trump signed a fiscal year 2026 spending package, clearing the way for the government to reopen after a brief partial government shutdown that began early on Jan. 31.
  • The legislation also reauthorizes the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) through Sept. 30, restoring Americans' ability to purchase and renew flood insurance policies.
  • NAR advocated for this funding throughout the year, sending letters to congressional leaders and meeting with lawmakers.
