The Columbus REALTORS® Young Professional Network (YPN) Committee is thrilled to kickoff another year of learning and collaboration. Building on the momentum gained this past year, the group is poised to grow and improve on the value and benefits provided — aimed at helping our members achieve their goals in 2018.

One of the goals for our group this year will be finding a balance between learning opportunities and events focused on providing members the chance to bond on a personal level. Advancements in technology have increased agents’ efficiencies and boosted productivity but have also left a void in our ability to build relationships, as deals are often done without ever meeting in person. With this in mind, we have scheduled some great events that will allow our group to spend quality time with one another.

We kicked off the year in late January with a happy hour at Juniper, quite possibly the best view of the skyline Columbus has to offer. We were encouraged to have in attendance both members who consistently frequent events, as well as several of our newest Columbus REALTOR® members, some having just joined this year.

January also saw our group announce the honorees of the Columbus REALTORS® 2018 Top 10 under 40 honorees (checkout this year's honorees beginning on page 40). There were a substantial number of applicants this year and we appreciate the work of the selection committee who spent hours poring through the quality applications. We had a great time celebrating with the honorees at Grandview Café in February.

In late February, the group convened to review the biggest takeaways coming out of Inman Connect New York. Several of our YPN members, whom attended ICNY18, spent time updating us on how tech will impact our business in 2018, and years to come. It was interesting to note, that one of the major things to come out of the conference is that building personal relationships will continue to be one of the chief determiners of success in our industry.

We plan to continue growing the YPN involvement in CORPAC and are excited to announce that several of our members have taken the 10 for 10 RPAC pledge ($10,000 over a 10-year period). We anticipate participating in the CORPAC Auction again this year and have seen increased participation in our “Born to Work” day year over year.

As we approach Summer, we have some unique events planned, including a YPN Leaders Retreat and a YPN Field Day, where members will compete in a variety of events, in teams. Similarly, we’ll come together to further our volunteer efforts in our community, which will likely see us partnering with local non-profits who aid the less fortunate in Columbus.

Our aim in 2018 is to bring value to our newest members, while at the same time growing the next crop of leaders at Columbus REALTORS®. Please join us at our monthly meetings, held the second Tuesday of each month, 10a at Columbus REALTORS®, to get involved.

New this year, we’ll have relevant, beneficial topics that will be discussed at our monthly meeting. We’re excited to serve our members and anticipate a great 2018!
