COLUMBUS, OH (April 28, 2023)—Columbus REALTORS® CEO Brent Swander has selected Vincent Coleman as the association’s Government Affairs Director. Coleman comes to Columbus REALTORS® from the Ohio House of Representatives, where he served as a Caucus Policy Advisor. Before his time at the Ohio House, he was the Director of Public Policy for Philanthropy Ohio.
“We are beyond excited to welcome Vincent to the team at Columbus REALTORS,” stated Swander. “Our advocacy efforts are vital to our members and the consumers they represent. Vincent rose above a field of extremely talented candidates. We are confident that his public policy expertise and nearly a decade of advocacy experience will benefit our membership for years to come.”
Vincent forged relationships with lobbyists, state agencies, and other key stakeholders at the Ohio House of Representatives to advance the caucus’ legislative agenda. In his role, Coleman worked to pass the state biennium budget and evaluated and advised on legislation related to agriculture, aviation & aerospace, energy & natural resources, public utilities, infrastructure, and rural development.
“This is such an exciting time not only for Columbus but also for the Columbus REALTORS and its membership,” Coleman stated. “I am looking forward to hitting the ground running to advance good public policy on behalf of the organization.”
Before his role at the Ohio House, Coleman joined Philanthropy Ohio in 2019 as a Manager of Public Policy. In 2020 he was promoted to Director of Public Policy, where he advocated on behalf of the council membership on federal and state policy issues ranging from housing, health, and education. He also served as a project manager to convene and connect partners in health equity, P-20 education, and access to workforce housing.
As a graduate of the University of Cincinnati with a Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs and Political Science, Vincent was very active on campus and was elected Senior Class President. After graduation, he was selected for a highly competitive fellowship from a pool of thousands of applicants from around the country to a 13-month program serving as a legislative fellow in the Ohio Legislature. Soon after, he was tapped to a position as a Legislative and Policy Aide. Coleman then moved on to the campaign side, serving as Deputy Political Director on a statewide campaign.
A native of Dayton, Ohio, Vincent enjoys spending his free time coaching youth soccer, spending time with his pup, exploring Columbus, and indulging in mint chocolate chip ice cream. Currently, he is Commissioner of Columbus’ Gotham Adult Soccer League and serves on the Downtown Columbus Young Professionals Board.
Vincent’s first day at Columbus REALTORS® will be May 2. On May 6, he will travel to Washington, D.C., to begin advocating for membership at the National Association of REALTORS® annual Legislative Meetings.
