Columbus, Ohio (Aug. 24) -- Realtor.com has announced that Gahanna, Ohio (43230), has been ranked No. 1 among the Hottest ZIP Codes in America for 2023.
To the residents of central Ohio, this should come as no surprise. To the rest of America, it’s a well-deserved spotlight that should continue to shine brighter.
Located just 8 miles northeast of downtown Columbus, Gahanna boasts a population of 35,000 and is situated along the picturesque Big Walnut Creek, featured in the city’s “Creekside” downtown development.

This is the sixth time in the last seven years that a central Ohio community has been featured in the top 10 of Realtor.com’s Hottest Zip Codes in America.
In 2022, Worthington was ranked No. 3 on the annual list. Before that, it was Lincoln Village (6th in 2021), Reynoldsburg (2nd in 2020), Worthington (7th in 2018), and Hilliard (10th in 2017).
Realtor.com’s Hottest ZIP Code rankings are based on an algorithm that considers two aspects of the housing market: 1) market demand, as measured by unique viewers per property on Realtor.com, and 2) the pace of the market, as measured by the number of days a listing remains active on Realtor.com. The hottest areas are those with high demand from buyers, such as lots of unique viewers per property and fast-selling homes, an indicator of limited supply.
According to Realtor.com about Gahanna’s No. 1 ranking, “The greater Columbus area offers home buyers the amenities and quality-of-life advantages of a larger town, but at a lower price. It’s (Gahanna) home to The Ohio State University, the Short North Arts District as well as a captivating food scene. Homes in this ZIP code were priced 12.7% below the national median in June – and with more than a quarter of its population aged 25-34, it's favorable for young renters and buyers alike.”
