On April 27, Columbus City Council Member Tiara Ross recognized Columbus REALTORS® for the third year in a row with a Resolution on Fair Housing.
2026 Columbus REALTORS® President, Gloria Alonso Cannon and Co-Chair of the Housing Affordability & Community Partnerships Committee, Brittany Eddy gave brief remarks on the importance of a REALTORS® duty to provide fair and equal housing opportunities.
Before the Columbus City Council, Alonso Cannon stated, “Columbus REALTORS® and our members understand that real estate professionals and consumers depend on strong fair housing laws and practices, for our communities and economy to thrive. Discrimination distorts the housing market and closes the door on the American dream of homeownership for qualified buyers. We advance our commitment to fair housing through policy advocacy, innovative programming, and legal guidance.”
Eddy spoke on the landmark 1968 Fair Housing Act that protects the rights of real estate professionals and consumers from discrimination in the housing market. She stated, “Every April, REALTORS® observe Fair Housing Month to reaffirm their commitment to providing fair, equitable, and professional service to all individuals searching for real estate.”
Columbus REALTORS® thanks Columbus City Council and Councilmember Ross for their support.
