CINCINNATI (Sept. 13, 2023)—Columbus REALTORS® and its members enjoyed a banner night at the Ohio REALTORS annual Awards Night at the Hyatt Regency in Cincinnati on Tuesday, Sept. 12.
2021 Columbus REALTORS® President Michael Jones was named the 2023 Ohio REALTOR® of the Year and REALTOR® of the Year from Columbus. This is the first Ohio REALTOR® of the Year award for Jones, who has served in numerous roles at the local and state levels. He is the first Columbus REALTORS® member to receive Ohio REALTOR® of the Year honors since current secretary and Board of Directors member Gloria Alonso-Cannon took home the award in 2016.
Jones has a distinguished resume of serving in leadership and in making a positive difference within the REALTOR organization. In addition, Jones has devoted great energies to enhancing the local community… tirelessly giving their time and talent to benefit a variety of community and civic organizations.
For Columbus REALTORS, Jones served on and chaired a variety of Board committees including Finance and Strategic Planning, among others. Additionally, he has served on various special assignments, task forces and leadership roles – including serving as President of the Board. His involvement at Ohio REALTORS is marked with equal distinction, as Jones has been an active participant in state governance meetings as a director...and been a member or chaired a host of committees, including Executive, Strategic Planning, Scholarship, Global Business, Convention Advisory and Diversity Equity and Inclusion.
Nationally, Jones served as a NAR Director and committee member, including Global Alliances, and as a Federal Political Coordinator. Jones is a strong supporter of the REALTORS Political Action Committee (RPAC), evidenced by being a member of Ohio RPAC’s Hall of Honor at the $20,000 level. Committed to professional development, Jones has earned several designations, including Graduate REALTORS Institute (GRI) Certified Residential Specialist (CRS) and Certified Internal Property Specialist (CIPS).
Locally Jones service in his community includes service as a member of the city board of zoning adjustment, an executive committee member for the county Democratic Party, a board member for the County Childhood Development Council, and serves as a mentor for Big Brothers/Big Sisters.

2016 Columbus REALTORS® President John Royer received the Mary L. Pollock Lifetime Achievement. This award is presented annually to a deserving Ohio REALTOR® who has gone above and beyond the call of duty on behalf of the profession and performs the hard, necessary work to move the organization forward without seeking the accolades or spotlight.
The Columbus REALTORS® Young Professional Network (YPN) was named Ohio’s YPN Organization of the Year. The committee, which boasts 239 members, is co-chaired by Christy Srey and Jill Saunders, along with assistance from Columbus REALTORS® staff liaison Sarah Kroger. They have successfully guided the organization through numerous volunteer, education, and professional development programs and events throughout 2023.

Shannon Grimm & Sharyn Rigsbee graduated from the Ohio REALTORS® Leadership Academy. Jordan McBride and Julie Wills represented Columbus REALTORS® as “Tomorrow Leaders Today (TLT). Mic Gordon was elected Ohio REALTORS® Treasurer for 2024-25. Sue Van Woerkom was elected Ohio REALTORS® District 1 Vice President for 2024-25.
