Columbus REALTORS®, Industry Partners Participate in Union County Inaugural Housing Summit
- Yesterday, CEO Brent Swander and member of the Columbus REALTORS® Board of Directors Rodelyn Frijas joined industry partners of the BIA, MORPC, the Columbus Partnership, and others at the inaugural Union County Housing Summit.
- Brent and Rodelyn provided industry updates and advocated for more housing through infill development and zoning reform.
- Members and staff were in attendance.
- Local real estate agent Katie Crocco emphasized the need for [attainable] housing solutions.
- “We need affordability,” Ms. Crocco shared, noting that incomes are not adequate for the options in Marysville. “Of the 176 houses currently for sale [in Marysville], 12 of them are $300,000 and under,” she said. “Your citizens are not going to make it. They are going to be forced to be renters if municipalities do not purposely seek out more affordable options.”

Bipartisan Housing for the 21st Century Act Advances in House Committee Markup
- A bipartisan housing package aimed at boosting supply and improving affordability moved forward this week, as the House Financial Services Committee advanced the Housing for the 21st Century Act during a markup. With committee approval secured, the legislation could move toward consideration by the full House.
- The National Association of REALTORS® is supporting the bill, which focuses on modernizing outdated housing programs, reducing regulatory barriers and increasing flexibility for local communities.
NAR Sends FY (Fiscal Year) 2026 Appropriations Recommendations to Congress
- NAR sent its Fiscal Year 2026 appropriations recommendations (attached) to the House and Senate Appropriations Committees as Congress works to finalize spending bills for the current fiscal year.
- The letter emphasizes that these programs provide essential support for housing affordability, expand access to homeownership and rental housing, and help communities address the nation's housing supply shortage.
- NAR will continue working with appropriators to ensure robust funding for federal housing programs that support homeownership opportunities and community development.
