Steps to Becoming a Member

Step 1:

To become a REALTOR®, you must first become a licensed real estate agent. Find out the easiest steps to become a licensed REALTOR®

REALTOR®

Three types of membership are available for individuals with a real estate license, appraiser license, or certification. Review the benefits of REALTOR® membership.

Designated REALTOR®

Licensed broker or appraiser who is sole proprietor, partner, corporate officer or branch office manager acting on behalf of the firm's principals. Residential and Commercial/Investment Section membership is available. Designated REALTOR® Application.

REALTOR®

Licensed broker, salesperson, or appraiser who is associated with a Designated REALTOR®. Residential and Commercial/Investment Section membership is available. Agent application.

REALTOR® Appraiser

Licensed appraisers who wish to hold REALTOR® membership in the association. Appraiser application.

Affiliate/Sustaining

Five types of membership are available for individuals who do not have a real estate license but are interested in the real estate industry. Review the benefits of Affiliate/Sustaining membership.

Corporate Affiliate

Real estate owners or individuals associated with a title company, mortgage company, financial institution, home building, or other company not having individuals licensed as sales agents or brokers. Corporate Affiliate application.

Individual Affiliate 

Individuals associated with the company of a Corporate Affiliate member (above). Individual Affiliate application.

Primary Sustaining

Individuals who practice in industries such as home inspection, pest control, insurance, engineering, moving/storage, contracting, cleaning, utilities, education, advertising, government, etc. Sustaining application.

Individual Sustaining

Individuals associated with the company of a Sustaining member (above). Individual Sustaining application.

Institute Affiliate

Individuals who hold a professional designation awarded by a qualified Institute, Society, or Council affiliated with the National Association of REALTORS® that addresses a specialty area other than residential brokerage or individuals who otherwise hold a class of membership in such Institute, Society or Council that confers the right to vote or hold office.

Pay appropriate dues and fees.

REALTORS® are required to complete New Member Orientation before they can get electronic keybox access.
