Designing Homes that Make Life Easier

This class is a combination course and tour of the nationally-acclaimed Universal Design Living Laboratory (www.UDLL.com) which is a spectacular Frank Lloyd Wright inspired Prairie Style 3,500 square foot home unlike any you've seen.

Clever design features and meticulous detailing make this home accessible, convenient, functional, peaceful and safe for everyone during every stage of life - regardless of age, size or physical ability.

These are elements every REALTOR® should know when assisting their clients.

A high-performance custom home, it showcases forward thinking features, such as universal design, green and healthy construction, and feng shui principles. Students will learn about these benefits during the tour and presentation.

This national demonstration home and gardens is the personal residence of the presenters and general contractors/builders, Mark Leder and Rosemarie Rossetti, Ph.D. (our 2015 Columbus REALTORS® Instructor of the Year!).

Rosemarie uses a wheelchair for mobility and will share her experiences and demonstrate the features in her home that provide her total access and independence.

Her husband, Mark Leder, stands 6'4" tall and will demonstrate how many of the elements in the home design cater to his needs.

Multiple needs, abilities and access considerations were all apart of the design process when this home was on the drawing board. They will both review what works, what sells and where the challenges are.

When you consult with your buyers regarding their needs when selecting the ideal existing home or new home floor plan, conversations need to include a discussion about the importance of universal design and how homes that include these features will better serve the homeowners in the present as well as in the future.
