It’s been a great privilege serving as your president this year!

2019 has been an incredibly busy and successful year for Columbus REALTORS® as we continue to improve and add to the many member benefits, as well as give back and support the central Ohio community.

We do not achieve those successes without the significant involvement of our members, and that starts with a magnificent leadership team of Officers, Directors and Committee Chairs. This group of people gives so much of their time and efforts for the good of our Association. And we have one of the best Associations in the country. I witness this when I attend statewide and national meetings and see that Columbus REALTORS® is often leading the way.

A tremendous amount of thanks goes to our CEO Stan Collins and his professional staff. With his leadership and wise counsel, we as an Association have benefited greatly.

The mention of Stan brings me to one of the more important tasks that is being worked on, finding his replacement as he enters retirement at the end of this year. Earlier in the year, the CEO Search Committee began working on that task. We engaged an executive search firm, Beecher Hill, to help with the process of conducting a national search. They reviewed close to 70 potential candidates and the Search Committee is in the midst of conducting interviews with the goal of having a new CEO in place before the end of the year.

I want to highlight a few of the important accomplishments we had in 2019. First for our residential members, we rolled out Homesnap this year. This member friendly national home search platform provides real-time MLS data to consumers and delivers leads directly to the listing agent and there is no cost to our members. Our launch of Homesnap has been one of the most successful in the country. Having this powerful tool available for our members is so critically important in this age of technical innovation and with other platforms that do not keep the agent at the center of the real estate transaction.

For our commercial members we have been able to build on the re-launch of our Commercial Information Exchange, COCIE, by leading the way to achieve a statewide network that now includes all the major metro areas in Ohio. Catylist, the vendor for COCIE, has launched a national public facing commercial portal that provides our members with national exposure for their listings at no additional cost.

Some noteworthy news about several of our members from the Ohio REALTORS® Conference in September:

  • Chris Reece was installed as the 2020 President for Ohio REALTORS®;
  • Sue Lusk-Gleich was named Ohio REALTORS® “Phillip R. Barnes RPAC Achievement Award” honoree; and
  • Gloria Cannon was elected as 2020-2022 Director to NAR.

Being your 2019 President has been a great privilege and an honor. As we head into 2020, I believe we are positioned to continue experiencing more and greater success under the very capable leadership of next year’s President Andy Mills.

Thank you
