Affordable Housing benchmark raised to $180,000

On 2/21/18, the Board of Directors approved a request from the Affordable Housing Committee to increase the affordable housing benchmark to $180,000 (from $150,000).

Central Ohio Housing Report - January 2018

Central Ohio housing inventory continued to decrease during the month of January to 3,410, which is 12 percent below December and 21.2 percent less than January 2017. This left central Ohio with a 1.2 months supply of inventory at the current sales pace and the 84th consecutive month of year over year declines in inventory, according to the Columbus REALTORS® Multiple Listing Service.

While central Ohio saw record home sales in 2017, the share of sales that were lender-mediated declined to 4.8 percent during 4Q-2017 which is down by more than half from 2016 (9.0 percent) according to the 4Q-2017 Lender-Mediated Properties Report.


REALTOR® Ethics Course Requirement due December 31, 2018

The REALTOR® Code of Ethics course required for all NAR members is due 12/31/18. The 2.5 hours on the NAR Code of Ethics is now due every two years. Although the requirement has been in place since 2001, the initial 4-year cycle was changed to a 2-year cycle. Therefore, it may not coincide with a real estate agent’s state of Ohio ethics requirement.
