Columbus REALTORS® 2018 Award Honorees

During Columbus REALTORS® annual Awards celebration on 4/18/18, six individuals were honored for their outstanding commitment to the real estate profession and to the central Ohio community.

As only one award is made annually in each category, this esteemed honor is recognized as a sign of excellence throughout the real estate industry.

Lorri Molnar, 2018 Broker of the Year
Lorri Molnar is the principal broker with Keller Williams Capital Partners and has been helping people buy and sell homes for over 41 years! 

She has served on and/or chaired numerous Columbus REALTORS® committees, including 15 plus years on the Residential Education Committee, which she chaired in 2009. 

She was one of the founding members of the Leadership Academy; chair of the Leadership Academy Advisory Board and of the Grievance Committee; a member of the Association’s Board of Directors; a MLS Director, representing six Keller Williams offices; and is currently serving a second year on the Broker Advisory Council; and her second term on the Professional Standards Committee. 

Lorri has served as a Columbus REALTORS® instructor, developed a three-hour Ethics course for the Association, and has taught the two-hour Ethics portion of Columbus REALTORS® monthly New Member Orientation. She has also served as a member of the adjunct Faculty at Columbus State Community College for 12 years, where she taught all real estate licensing classes.

Lorri was honored as Columbus REALTORS® “Instructor of the Year” in 2008 and 2014; is a recipient the Ohio Association of REALTORS® (OAR) Excellence in Community Service Award; and was the recipient of the RE/MAX Hall of Fame Award, which honors successful agents who have earned more than one million dollars in commissions during their careers with the company. 

She holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science/Sociology from the University of Dayton, and the Accredited Buyer’s Representative (ABR); Certified Real Estate Brokerage Manager (CBR); Graduate REALTOR® Institute (GRI®); and the Seniors Real Estate Specialist (SRES) professional designations.

Lorri’s community and civic involvement includes serving as a trustee for the Ville Charmante and the Weybridge West home owners associations; a 35-year volunteer with Twig of Children’s Hospital; and a 40-year volunteer for the Memorial Tournament, where she was named Memorial Tournament “Volunteer of the Year” in 2001. She’s also an Eucharistic Minister at St Brigid of Kildare in Dublin.

Lorri and her husband Ken resides in Dublin. They have two children and five grandchildren.

Sue Van Woerkom, 2018 Salesperson of the Year

Sue Van Woerkom is a sales associate with Keller Williams Capital Partners and has been practicing real estate for 21 years this July! She appreciates the trust and friendship that comes along with helping folks make life changing decisions that are an inherent part of home selling and buying. 

She currently serves as a member of the Columbus REALTORS® Budget, Finance & Investment Committee; is a member of the Association’s Board of Directors and of the Foundation Board of Trustees; serves as co-chair of the Foundation Fundraising Committee; and is a member of the Government Affairs Steering Committee. She also currently serves on the Raise the Bar Task Force. 
In the past, she has served multiple years as a member of the CEO Evaluation and Foundation Fundraising committees, and on the CORPAC Fundraising, Governmental Affairs Forum, Residential Education and the Strategic Long-Range Planning committees. 

Sue received a nursing degree from Cedar Crest Colleges, is a 2014 graduate of the Columbus REALTORS® Leadership Academy, and she holds the Accredited Buyer’s Representative (ABR), Relocation Specialist and E-Agent professional designations. She is also a 2016 recipient of the Columbus REALTORS® Lifetime Achievement Award, an Amnesty Award honoree, and a member of the Columbus REALTORS® Twenty-Five Million Dollar Sales Award Club.

Sue continues to maintain her RN license and has served many years as a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner. She is also a member of the First United Methodist Church, where she serves on its Board of Trustees and regularly volunteers her nursing services at her former church (Scioto Ridge United Methodist Church) home’s health screenings and at Pelotonia. In addition, she participates as a HEAL Coach with the Church for All People associated with the Southside Renaissance, and she donates ten percent of her earnings from each closing to the charity of her client’s choice.

Sue and her husband currently live in a log cabin on their “Wannabee Farm” just outside of Columbus, with their chickens, goats, assortment of cats and their dogs, Honey Bee and Herky (short for Hercules). 

Chris Hamilton, 2018 Affiliate of the Year
Chris Hamilton is a business partner with Search2Close Title and Closing Company, where taking care of the REALTORS® he works with is his top priority. He’s been a member of Columbus REALTORS® for five years.

Chris serves as Co-chair of Columbus REALTORS® 2018 REALTOR® Care Day Committee, is a member of the Affiliate Committee and, for multiple years, has been and currently is a member of the CORPAC Fundraising Committee and of the Young Professionals Network. In the past, he has co-chaired the Young Professionals Network, the CORPAC Fundraising Committee and served as a member of the CORPAC Governing Board. He was recently inducted in to the Columbus REALTORS® CORPAC Honor Society, an achievement only two other affiliate members have accomplished.

Throughout his career, Chris has generated over 7.2 million dollars in revenue and loan amounts totaling over 600 million; performed and closed over 1000 loans; and was responsible for increasing REALTOR® client base by 1500 percent. 

Chris currently volunteers with the Ronald McDonald House, Furniture Bank of Central Ohio and the Alzheimer's Association Central Ohio Chapter, where he encourages and organizes multiple volunteer groups of REALTORS® and lenders to help these organizations throughout the year with providing lunches, cleaning up rooms, assembling materials to help build furniture, and spending time with Alzheimer’s patients.

He also contributes to Voice of Martyrs (a charity that provide aid to persecuted Christians around the world); the American Cancer Society, Paralyzed Veterans of America, March of Dimes, and the American Heart Association.
Chris in the past has also served multiple years as a member of the Powell Area Realty Association (formerly Southern Delaware County) Realty Association, Greater Dublin Area Realty Association, the Northwest Area Realty Association, and the Westerville Area Realty Association.

Chris resides in Columbus with his wife, Stevie and his daughter Lorelei.

Stephanie Rucinski, 2018 Rising Star of the Year
Stephanie Rucinsk has been a sales associate with Cutler Real Estate for nearly three years and, according to her colleagues, is as motivated and hard working as they come. She has a passion for the real estate industry and compassion for the buyers and sellers she works with.

During her short tenue as a member of Columbus REALTORS®, Stephanie has participated in multiple Association training classes, particularly the ones involving marketing and technology, and has earned membership in the Association’s One Million Dollar Sales Award Club.

She has a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Management from Boston College; a master’s degree in International Negotiations and Conflict Resolution from Erasmus University in Holland; and both a law degree and MBA from The Ohio State University. She also holds the ePro professional designation and is working toward the Graduate REALTORS® Institute (GRI) designation.

Stephanie is a recipient of the Columbus Business First “Forty Under 40” award; and was an Ernst and Young “Entrepreneur of the Year” nominee; a Columbus Tourism “Ambassador of the Year” finalist; and was number one in “selling” sides for the Cutler Real Estate New Albany office in 2017.

In the community, Stephanie has been an active participant with the New Albany Chamber of Commerce Mentorship Program; the New Albany Citizens Police Academy, VIPPS (Volunteers in Public Safety Service), which is a division of the Department of Homeland Security; the AgriPower Leadership Development Program; the Columbus Foundation; Experience Columbus, Columbus Tourism; Habitat for Humanity; and the Columbus Food Bank.

Stephanie is also the founder of “Things to Do in Columbus, Ohio,” a Facebook page that has received thousands of likes and shares and serves to further engage the community and get more people active in unique events and experiences.

Reverend John Edgar, 2018 Citizen of the Year
Rev. John Edgar is the executive director of Community Development for All People (CD4AP) – a faith-based, multifaceted community development corporation that is focused on improving the quality of life of persons living on the South side of Columbus.

Their mission is a whole, healthy and engaged community where all people are empowered to pursue their hopes, dreams and aspirations, where lives are transformed by faith and trust, and personal fulfillment is experienced through the abundance of God’s love and grace.

CD4AP is a Community Housing Development Organization. In the past 12 years, it has developed over $60 million worth of affordable housing working in collaboration with a variety of public and private partners including the Columbus REALTORS® Foundation. The housing development activities focus on long-term rentals; first-time homeownership opportunities; and a community home repairs program;

The Free Store, a flagship ministry of CD4AP, provides free clothing and household items to more than 20,000 persons each year. CD4AP operates a variety of health and wellness initiatives including a new fresh market and is deeply involved in youth development programming.

Rev. Edgar’s work in Columbus to develop affordable housing goes back to 1987, when he led the way to form Habitat for Humanity-Mid Ohio along with two other community leaders. In that same year, he became one of the founding board members of Homeport, serving for 6 years. During that period, he helped Homeport to launch Homes on the Hill, serving as the first treasurer of Homes on the Hill. He is currently the vice chair of the Affordable Housing Alliance of Central Ohio.

An ordained pastor for over 40 years, Rev. Edgar is the founding pastor of the United Methodist Church for All People and has previously served as a district superintendent and dean of the cabinet in the West Ohio Conference of the United Methodist Church.

Rev. Edgar has a Master of Divinity degree, cum laude, from Harvard University and a bachelor’s degree in sociology, Magna cum laude, from Miami University of Ohio.

Sean Carpenter, 2017 Instructor of the Year
Sean Carpenter has been a licensed REALTOR® since 1998 and, from 2005-2016, was Agent Development Director for the Ohio NRT companies.

He founded Sean Speaks in 2018 to expand his speaking, consulting, and facilitation opportunities. His most popular sessions focus on creating memorable customer experiences, maximizing social and digital media, as well as business planning, leadership and sales.

He most recently served on the Columbus REALTORS® Mentor Education Task Force, where he was actively involved in the creation of the Association’s Certified Real Estate Mentor (CREM) designation course. 

In the past, he has served as member of Columbus REALTORS® Board of Directors, co-chaired its CORPAC Fundraising Committee, and twice chaired its Communication Committee. He’s facilitated five Columbus REALTORS® Leadership Retreats and is a member of the Association’s Five Million Dollar Sales Award Club.

As a national speaker, Sean has presented in 34 of the 50 states, is approved to teach continuing education classes in 11 states, and has been blogging at since 2008, where he has written over 845 posts.

Sean has been formerly recognized by Inman News as one of the Top 100 Most Influential Leaders in Real Estate and was named as one of the “Top 20 Most Influential People in Social Media for the real estate industry” by The Swanepoel Report for the third year in a row. 

He holds a bachelor’s in Exercise and Sports Science from the University of Florida in Gainsville. His mission is to “teach with passion and enthusiasm instilling confidence and excitement in his students,” and he lives by his philosophy -- build relationships, solve problems and have fun. 

Sean lives in Upper Arlington with his wife of 25 years, Ronda, and their two children Riley and Ryan.
