Going above and beyond

The Columbus REALTORS® Professional Standards Committee is recognizing members who go the extra mile when it comes to professionalism and adherence to the REALTOR® Code of Ethics.

I nominate Kathy Chiero of Keller Williams Greater Columbus, as a member who went above and beyond in professionalism towards her fellow REALTORS®. The summary below proves how she exemplifies our REALTOR® Code of Ethics.

A REALTOR® in my company, RE/MAX Premier Choice, had a listing and the relationship was not going well with the Sellers because of specific issues that the Seller perceived were wrong. After two weeks, RE/MAX and the listing agent mutually agreed to terminate the listing contract with the Sellers.

Kathy Chiero and her company became the new brokerage listing the property. Kathy had the same experiences with the Sellers and again mutually terminated her listing contract after several weeks.

The Sellers then decided to file a complaint with the Ohio Division of Real Estate against RE/MAX and the listing agent. When hearing about this complaint, Kathy spoke directly to the investigators involved in the case on three separate occasions. She gave them information and examples as to the same experiences that she had with the Sellers that our listing agent experienced.

Kathy gave of her personal and productive time in selling real estate to make sure that the investigator had accurate information and that the Division had all the facts to reach an accurate conclusion in the case.

I believe this is an excellent example of a member going ‘above and beyond’ in exemplifying Articles 14 and 15 of the REALTOR® Code of Ethics.
