"Volunteers do not necessarily have the time; they just have the heart." – Elizabeth Andrew
Your time is valuable to us! We know that this is a busy time of year, especially for those of us in the real estate industry. However, if you have ever volunteered for REALTOR® Care Day, you know that our time and efforts are just as much a gift to us as it is to the community we serve.
Mark your calendars! June 7, 2017 will be the 13th REALTOR® Care Day and we need all hands on deck! Sign up now to be a part of the largest community service day that Columbus REALTORS® participates in each year.
We have a lofty goal for the main project as we head back to the south side, this time to Hungarian Village.
No matter your skill level, there is a job for you! We will be working on the exterior of several homes that include landscaping as well as minor repairs, painting and yard work.
We are excited to announce that one of the homes is part of a community outreach program that helps those in need. We will be sprucing up the grounds of the beautiful Hungarian Reformed Church that was built in 1923. The church has graciously allowed us to use their parking lot for our staging area.
We will also be adding two pocket parks that will include landscaping and installing benches, Little Library boxes, and custom signage.
REALTOR® Care Day is honored to be partnering with the South Side Renaissance for this year’s main project. The South Side Renaissance initiative has achieved significant advances in revitalizing Hungarian Village.
Over the past decade, numerous blighted properties have been rehabilitated or rebuilt providing suitable housing for those most in need. Many of the Hungarian Village residents have lived in the area for decades and have a great sense of pride in their community.
The efforts of the South Side Renaissance project have made a substantial impact in the area and our 2017 REALTOR® Care Day project looks to contribute to their ongoing efforts in helping this great community.
You can also choose to volunteer at one of the local Area Realty Associations projects (see list opposite). Last year we had 23 groups work on 40 projects with 484 volunteers!
If you can't commit to working on June 7, 2017, you can make a monetary donation (big or small) or help obtain donations. Last year we reinvested over $38,250! Help us to make this year even bigger!
Sign up today! Shifts are; all day (9a-4p) or half day (9a-12p and 1-4p).
